Leaders in cable management since 1942

Montage of Marshall-Tufflex pictures

We’ve come a long way since our wartime beginnings in 1942 and are today proud to be a market leader and manufacturer of cable management products that are distributed across the globe.

When C&C Marshall Limited was incorporated in London, 28th May 1942, the third German counter offensive was launched in the Western Desert by General Rommell, Mexico declared war on the Axis powers, and The Labour Party Conference ended with a declaration of unanimous support for Winston Churchill.

While we are still a family-run business, many things have changed since 1942. We have factories and warehouses in London, Manchester, and our main base is in Hastings, East Sussex.

We’ve diversified our product ranges to include wire basket, GRP, and MT32 pre-wired solutions to name just a few, and produce over 2,000 products.

We’re embracing new technology to be more innovative than ever. We use the latest 3D printing technology to take product from design to market as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. Our products are continuously being added to our BIM (Building Information Modelling) library, allowing access to key technical data.

Marshall-Tufflex timeline: A British, family owned company with over 75 years experience

In May 2017, we celebrated our 75th Anniversary with several special events including a Time Capsule ceremony and staff party.

1942 - The company was born during the Second World War with a £394 War Loan and an idea built around the use of PVC, a new material just coming into commercial use.
1946 - The early years were not easy; it was war time, the extruders were unreliable, the company had limited funds and the harsh winters brought power shut downs.
1947 - Twelve employees were producing plastic cane, belting and piping at the rate of 26 tons per year. Annual turnover had reached £12,000. As the business grew it moved, first to premises in Watford and then to Hastings, where it remains today.
1962 - The Charlotte Marshall Charitable Trust was created to give help to health, educational and children’s charities both locally and throughout the world.
1970 - The company made its formal entry into the cable management market and started to sell a range of conduit.
1974 - Turnover had broken the £1,000,000 barrier and the company was securing a name for innovative, high quality products and good customer service. Conduit was being exported to some 20 countries, with the Middle East providing a busy order book.
1976 - The Mini Trunking design was patented and launched at the Electrex show. It was a huge success, transforming the re-wiring and refurbishment procedures of the time. This product helped establish Marshall-Tufflex’s credentials and reputation.
1982 - A branch was opened in Blackhorse Lane, Walthamstow as a convenient distribution depot with good access to the M25.
2006 - Odyssey profile proved another landmark, bringing to market the only all-curved three compartment trunking profile.
2007 - The company head office moved to its current home, Austin House on Churchfields Industrial Estate and is proud to remain its UK based status.
2016 - BIM is introduced to the construction industry and the Sterling range becomes the first three compartment trunking system available for download.
2017 - Local MP for Hastings and Rye, and Home Secretary Amber Rudd attends our time capsule event to mark our 75th anniversary.
Plans have been put in place for the next generation to open the capsule on Marshall-Tufflex's 150th birthday in 2092.
2017 - As the company celebrates its 75th anniversary, it is recognised as the market leader for Cable Management and as a major player in the electrical industry.
