Marshall-Tufflex gains ISO 14001
Customers of leading cable management and rainwater goods manufacturer Marshall-Tufflex can be assured the company is committed to environmental excellence following its accreditation to ISO 14001.
By achieving this internationally recognised Environmental Management Certification, Marshall-Tufflex's high level of commitment to environmental practices across the manufacture, transportation and recycling of its products is reaffirmed.
For the East Sussex manufacturer, ISO 14001 is an important acknowledgment of its ‘green' credentials. For sometime it has been actively involved in the regulatory requirements of Vinyl 2010, which involves the European PVC industry's approach to sustainability from raw materials to post-consumer waste. Marshall-Tufflex also recycles its PVC-U waste back into the manufacturing chain, recycles consumables and takes energy reducing measures including the installation of Passive Infra Red (PIR) lighting sensors to help minimise the use of artificial light on site.
In addition, Marshall-Tufflex actively pursues a comprehensive programme to develop formulations based on environmentally acceptable materials, whilst still maintaining and, where possible, improving on long-term performance. The Company is also keen to develop systems and products that reflect its environmental stance – its MT32 Power Connection System being a good example. MT32 is a re-usable and re-configurable plug & play 32amp wiring option that meets a number of green credentials due to its zero waste on installation for tailored solutions.
The ISO 14001 certification follows a period of independent assessment by BSI. Jim Fletcher, Managing Director, Marshall-Tufflex, said: “ISO 14001 is undoubtedly a highly valued environmental standard and one which increasingly we are finding our customers are demanding. It also provides a framework for continuous evaluation and improved management of both current and future environmental risks.
“We are delighted with this significant achievement, which has been a major aim within our environmental policy. Gaining the award is a tribute to the continuing hard work of everyone in taking a pro-active approach to tackle environmental issues. It also backs-up the excellent report we received from our Carbon Trust Assessment in 2007.”
