HR Assistant

Join our HR team and play a key role in delivering high‑quality, people‑focused support across the organisation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and wants to grow their HR career. You’ll provide day‑to‑day operational support whilst also contributing to improvements in processes, systems and employee experience.

 

About the Role

As HR Assistant, you will provide broad support across HR operations, recruitment, employee relations, compliance and people‑focused projects. You’ll be the first point of contact for employees and managers, ensuring smooth HR delivery and helping to maintain accurate data, strong processes and a positive working environment.

This role combines coordination, administration and low‑level advisory work, offering excellent exposure to all areas of HR.

Key Responsibilities

      Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Manage job postings and coordinate end‑to‑end recruitment campaigns
  • Screen candidates and support interview scheduling
  • Prepare offers, contracts and onboarding documentation
  • Complete right‑to‑work checks and maintain accurate system updates
  • Support leaver processes and exit documentation
  • Recommend improvements to the recruitment process and candidate experience

 

     Employee Relations Support

  • Act as first point of contact for HR queries
  • Provide guidance on policies and procedures
  • Support low‑complexity ER cases (notes, letters, follow‑up actions)
  • Coach managers on basic HR processes
  • Escalate complex issues to the HR Manager

 

     Compliance and HR Operations

  • Maintain accurate HR records and ensure audit readiness
  • Manage absence logging and support managers with process steps
  • Monitor right‑to‑work, visas and compliance requirements
  • Maintain training records and coordinate mandatory training
  • Ensure consistent application of HR policies
  • Support admin with payroll where necessary

 

      Projects and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead small HR projects independently
  • Support wider HR initiatives (policy reviews, system updates, engagement activity)
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce duplication

 

       Data and Reporting

  • Maintain HR data and produce routine reports
  • Support analysis of trends (absence, turnover, recruitment)
  • Prepare presentations and meeting notes

 

       What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in an HR support or administrative role
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with a proactive approach
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Interest in developing HR knowledge and skills
  • CIPD level 5 achieved or studying towards
