Material Data and Chemical Resistance

We use a variety of materials in the manufacture of our products in order to offer solutions for use within different installations and to comply with regulations.

PVC-U

Extra Super High Impact grade PVC-U is capable of withstanding the most hazardous conditions on site and which exceeds the most stringent requirements of the British Standards.  It is flame retardant and self extinguishing. PVC-U is a 100% recyclable material. We use high levels of recycled PVC-U within our manufacturing and have refined this process over the past 25 years.

GRP

Glass reinforced polyester (GRP) is a lightweight yet mechanically strong material well suited to aggressive environments where there might be extreme temperatures or high levels of UV resulting in a very long life span. Incorporating non-conductive and self-extinguishing properties, GRP has excellent fire performance and is halogen-free with low smoke and fume properties.

Polycarbonate

Polycarbonate is resistant to most mineral and organic acids, a number of fats and oils, saturated aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and alcohols, with the exception of methyl alcohol. It is not resistant to alkalis, ammonia gas and its solution or to amines

FR ABS

Fire Retardant (FR) ABS has a good chemical resistance to inorganic salt solutions, alkalis, mineral acids (except strong oxidising acids) and some mineral, vegetable and animal based oils. It is attacked by organic solvents such as alcohols, esters, ketones and ethers

Steel

Steel has a robust and durable mechanical strength with inherent LS0H (low smoke zero halogen) properties.

Steel has very strong EMI protection and withstands high temperatures with a melting point of approximately 1370°C (2500°F).

Aluminium

Grade HE9TF (Screen Insert)
Grade 6063 T5 (Bench Trunking Aluminium, XL Aluminium and Twin Plus Aluminium)
Tensile strength: 190n/mm²
Co Efficient of linear expansion: 24 x 10-6/m/˚C
Thermal conductivity:
120w/m/˚C.
