With lockdown now evolving, it feels like we can finally pause for a moment to catch our breath and reflect on the past few months. From my perspective, it’s been a period of intense emotions at every inch of the spectrum – as the business has faced difficult and challenging times and also, had many positives and reasons to celebrate. Overriding this period, has been the strong will and dedication of all our staff to adapt, work safely and with agility, so that Marshall-Tufflex has been able to continue to operate as ‘normally’ as possible throughout.
A particular highlight from this period, and one that I am immensely proud of, only possible because of extraordinary efforts of our staff, was our rapid response to the cable trunking orders for the construction of the NHS Nightingale Hospitals. In those early days, when the country was under strict lockdown conditions and the NHS preparing itself for predicted huge patient volumes, our teams worked tirelessly around the clock, to process unprecedented levels of Bio trunking cable management systems for the construction of the new emergency hospitals. To meet the enormous volumes and urgency, we needed to completely change our manufacturing and distribution operation. It was a real team effort and we are honoured to have assisted in the construction of these exceptional hospitals.
We have also been able to deliver on our commitment to launching our new Sterling Compact Trunking range. As an upgrade to the Mono Plus 20, it’s the smallest of our three compartment trunking options and again, it is thanks to the commitment of our research and development teams that we were able to progress this project as part of our ongoing portfolio development strategy.
To support our merchant, wholesale and distribution partners throughout this challenging time, we found new ways to continue working as close to ‘business as usual’ as possible, including implementing some adaptations to our delivery and collection processes so that we can fulfil order requirements on customers normal delivery days. As lockdown restrictions ease, we recognise our partners may be working at different speeds in adjusting to the ‘new normal’. All our teams are working with all our partners individually to find the best ways to move forward together and to meet business needs.
From the very beginning, we decided that we would only continue to work if safe to do so. The health and safety of our employees, customers and suppliers has been our top priority and this policy will remain so. Like many others, we have implemented safeguarding measures in every area of the business and we are constantly monitoring the situation and following official government advice to ensure that our safety processes remain in line with current guidelines.
We know we need to remain flexible within an ever-changing environment. It is thanks to the determination and resolve of our employees that Marshall-Tufflex will continue to adapt, so that it can keep business moving.
